The umbrella

A couple of years ago I was staying in a hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia which had a rooftop pool. One evening I arrived back at the hotel and changed to go swimming. I left my room and took the lift up to the roof. Stepping out of the lift dressed just in my trunks with my goggles in my hand the attendant come over to me and said “Are you going outside to swim, sir.” “Yes.” I replied. “But it’s raining.” he said. It was pouring, a real deluge. He then disappeared and returned a minute later with an umbrella. Going out through the door, he held the umbrella above me so I wouldn’t get wet, while getting completely soaked himself. Thanking him I dived into the pool and … got wet 🙂
